Furth Wallace "F.W." Haralson

Bolivar - Furth Wallace (F.W.) Haralson was born in Kansas City, Missouri on May 6, 1928 and was the only child of Troy and Anna (Enyart) Haralson. He passed away in his home surrounded by family on January 31, 2022 at the age of 93.
He was a graduate of Halfway High School’s class of 1947 and was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Bolivar. F.W. married Elizabeth Polodna on December 27, 1958 and were blessed with three children. F.W. and Elizabeth were married for 34 years until the time of Elizabeth’s death in 1993. They loved to travel and enjoyed many hunting and fishing trips in their early years together, as well as many family vacations.
F.W. started his career helping his father with plastering jobs. Together, they would plaster the walls of Halfway High School before F.W. was even old enough to be a student there. After his high school graduation, plastering became his full-time job. He began doing drywall work in 1970, and brought his son, Kenny, into the business six years later. He never let his age slow him down, and he continued working well into his 80s.
When he wasn’t working, F.W. was always on the go – even if it was just for a short drive to the local McDonald’s for coffee and stories with his friends. He was an excellent storyteller and loved to reminisce about days gone by. He loved being outdoors and especially enjoyed fishing and hunting. Over the years, he took his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren along on fishing trips to catch crappie.
Survivors include son Kenny and wife Frances Haralson (Bolivar), daughter Barbara and husband Eddie Covert (Halfway), and daughter Therese and husband Chad Hamlet (Branson). Grandchildren are Judy and Dusty Ross (Bolivar), Amanda and John Randall (Bolivar), Christina and Jessi Barker (Alaska), Elizabeth Haralson (Springfield), Jessica and Jason Hammer (Bois D’Arc), Andrew Covert (Halfway), and Gabriel Hamlet (Branson). Great-grandchildren are Riley, Madden, and MaKayle Ross and Esbon and Jaxon Randall. F.W. is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
F.W. once said that he lived three wonderfully full lives – the first 30 years before his marriage, the second 30 years with his loving wife, and the last 30 years on his own, watching his family grow around him. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. F.W. 's family would like to extend special thanks to Joe Blair for his long-time friendship and many visits to F.W. 's, to neighbors Janet and Joe Arnold for making the last several months special for F.W. by taking him on many outings, and to CMH Hospice for their help and support.
A private graveside service for immediate family will be held in the future under the direction of Pitts Funeral Home in Bolivar. Father Scott Sunnenberg will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
