Rex Wayne Wright

Springfield - Rex Wayne Wright was born April 14, 1937, in Dunnegan, Mo. He died March 12th, 2022 surrounded by his loved ones. He served in the Army for 28 years. He was in the B battery battalion. Rex was a long time business owner of Southern Missouri Batteries and Wrights Used Cars. One of the first businesses to be on Kearney Street. One of his greatest passions was Horse Racing and his horse, Silver Icon, won the Remmington in 1988. Rex loved to hunt and fish and spend time with his family.
Rex is preceded in death by his mother, Faye Wright, brother, Ralph Dale Wright, and Steve Walentoski who he considered a son.
He is survived in death by his children, Sherlyn Mullins (Bruce) Teresa Barr (Ray), son Marcelo Zamagni. Grandchildren Chelsey Butler (Patrick), Carlye Mullins (Dwain Young) and Raylynn Barr, and great granddaughter Madilyn. We know that he is at peace with God. Rex leaves behind many friends and business associates.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday, March 17, 2022, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North Springfield, MO. Private graveside services will be held at Missouri Veterans Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you donate in his name to: Saratoga WarHorse: 28 Clinton Street Saratoga Springs, NY 12866, which brings two of Rex’s favorite things together: rehabilitation for veterans and horses alike.
