Andrews, Hazel Ramona -

Hazel Ramona Andrews

Flemington - Hazel Ramona (Barker) Andrews was born May 12, 1941, in Polk County, MO, to Ernest and Zelma Barker. She was a member of the Pleasant View Missionary Baptist Church and was saved at a young age.
She was united in marriage to Bob Andrews on May 15, 1959. Bob met Hazel at the Penguin Drive In when she brought him a coke, he had ordered for just a dime. The rest was 63 years of great memories and funny antics. To this union a daughter Gretchen (Andrews) Combs was born.
To say Hazel had an infectious laugh would be an understatement. This laugh brought joy to all of those in her presence even into her last earthly days. One had to stay on their toes around Hazel. It was always to be a possibility that the nickel she had in her hand asking someone to take a better look at was, in fact, a trick coin and filled with water which would soon end up in one’s face. She was a lifelong fan of the whoopee cushion, later graduating to an electronic form which provided hours of humor for family and friends.
Hazel never met a stranger. She stood up for what and who she believed in and treated all who she loved as family. To all who knew her, there was no doubt they were important and loved by her.
Hazel was a faithful servant in her church. Every Sunday until she became unable to attend, you could find her sitting in the choir section of pews, right by the piano. For years, Elder Ron Erven referred to her lovingly as “Hazelnut.”
In her last years of employment, she worked keeping Beasley Hall clean. She touched thousands of young ladies’ lives and was greatly loved by all who knew her. As always, the girls in the dorm were forever privileged to her hilarious antics and positivity.
In 1982, a granddaughter was born. She spent many years caring for Keila in her young life, teaching her how to play waitressing, barbies, and coloring, always hands on. She was forever loving and unconditional with her as was she with her great grandson Konner who was born in 2008.
Hazel enjoyed passing her time with Bob playing card and other games. She loved making day trips around the area in search of items to complete various collectible items.
