Hofstetter, Charles Jerald Dean -

Charles Jerald Dean Hofstetter

Polk - Charles Jerald Dean Hofstetter, 90 of Polk, MO, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2015, at the nursing home in Lee’s Summit MO. He was born March 9, 1925, to Loka (Lightfoot) and Charles H. Hofstetter in Polk Co Missouri.
Jerald was married to Ruby J. Glanville in December of 1945 to which they enjoyed 60 years together. He was a devoted husband up to her passing in 2005. To their union was born one daughter, Jerolyn.
Jerald or J.D., as many called him, was a member of the Sentinel Missionary Baptist church having been saved and Baptized at an early age.
He was a farmer most his whole life, with the exception of doing Bulldozing work as a young man, making a number of the existing ponds dug during the early 1940’s. He spent a short time working the citrus groves in California but he longed to be back in Missouri and own his own farm. He was a Dairyman up until the age of 65 when he decided he would raise beef cattle to give him a bit more flexible time to enjoy going to Branson and other short travel trips with his wife. He was excellent with horses, broke many to ride in his younger years and for many years rode a beautiful white Stallion named Lightening. He loved his farm and cows and was proud of his beautiful herd which he cared for up until just a couple of years ago. Jerald was a kind and good natured father and grandfather, a loyal friend, a good neighbor, a God fearing man. He loved to talk and visit where ever he went. He never knew a stranger. He would strike up conversations with folks and was always congenial. He stuck up for the little guy when he found himself in the circumstance to do so. He was well liked by everyone he met.
Jerald was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a brother Eugene Hofstetter and a son in-law Edward Norgren Jr.
He is survived by his daughter Jerolyn Norgren, grandson and wife Peter and Stephanie Norgren, and three great grandchildren, Theo, Lena, and Gemma. Gone but not forgotten, Loved because he Loved.
